Mixtapes Make the World Go Round

There's nothing in this world that elicits a more fuzzy feeling in your insides than receiving a handmade mixtape from someone. In fact, the basis of this club - BHS Music Appreciation Club - was founded on the principle that physically sharing mixtapes and discussing songs and artists we loved was a marvelous way not only to connect with fellow music lovers but also to broaden our horizons.

Josie and I have a tradition of sending each other physical mixtapes at the start of each season, as if it were a musical montage for the next three months, or at random times throughout. She and I have extremely different music tastes but that's really what's beautiful about mixtapes - each individual track is a little message about ourselves that we share with each other, and gives the impression that that person cared enough to spend time and create a compilation of songs that touched them in some way. Sometimes, instead of a little notification saying "so and so has shared a song with you", it's a lovely feeling to be given a mixtape.
